Using a Guitar Pre

Justin - Just wondering have you ever used a guitar pre for overdrive while recording. I was looking for an overdrive sound on a track and as an experiment I just plugged directly into my brothers Mesa Recto Pre and it sounded great. Likely not the most economical to get an overdrive but since it was in the rack it was cool and had a highend quality sound.

Never used one personally, no.
