Vintage(ish) or Modern Precision?

Hi Justin,

If you only had the bread to go for a Mid-late 70's precision bass, or a modern version (be it from fender or another company), which do you think you'd go for?

Also, would you ever buy an older instrument without playing it first?
There seem to be a lot more older precisions overseas, which could end up saving me some fairly serious money.

Not without playing it first, unless it's returnable.
