VT Bass vs Palmer for speaker simulation

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi Justin,

I was just wondering if there was any significant difference between both when it comes to speaker simulation.

I'm currently trying to sort out what would be the best setup and if I'd be good with just the VT bass (since I don't currently need it as an overdrive effect) and a DI like my Bassbone or a REDDI.

So by looking at the following setups :

1 - Inst. ---> VT Bass ---> DI (Bassbone or else) ---> FOH
2 - Inst. ---> Preamp ---> Palmer ---> FOH

Is one better than the other? Is there another better setup? Anything else I might be overlooking?

Thanks!

Try doing setup #1. It's nice and simple. Palmer is a bit esoteric, and not very "sculptable" tone-wise for bass anyway. I don't find there's a lot of range to its sound.
