Arcus bows

What does everyone think about Arcus bows? I played on the sinfonia and liked it, but has anyone played on the concerto?

Personally, I have no experience with Arcus bows (I own a Carbow), but I will quote a review the Italian bassist Vito Liuzzi posten on the 2xBasslist some days ago. Hope this will be of any help.

Vincent

Quote:
I have used ARCUS " Sinfonia " Carbon Bow for one month and half. One Arcus Distributor ( in Italy ), when I have decided not to buy it ( $ 1.500 at least ) , was going to sell me at $ 1000 , just to develope it among students and collegues. In my opinion, I think it was a good price, but , at the end, I've realized an Emilio Slaviero's bow ( Cremona ) at $ 1200 is much better. However it's only my very personal opinion.
Arcus " Sinfonia " carbon bow :
Votes are expressed 10/10.

Sound : 7.5/10 ( with Nyman rosin and Pops )

Balancement : 8,5/10

Weight : 9/10 ( but it's very soggetive )

Grip from Frog to the end : 9/10

Grip at the Frog ( tallone ) : 7.5/10

Grip at the end ( punta ) : 7.5/10

Different bowings : 7.5/10 ( generally considerated )

Spiccato ( for example ) : 6.5/10

Balzato : 7/10

Detaché : 6/10 and so on...

Details of construction : 9/10

Hair : 6,5/10 ( probably with my Cremona hair some vote would have been better ... but I couldn't change it ! )

Picchettato : 7/10

Volteggio : 7,5/10

Richness of harmonics : 7/10

Price/quality : if sold at $ 1.500 my vote is 5/10

Is there someone who has had the same bow, so to compare the results ?

Regards

Vito Liuzzi

Has anyone tried their new "S" series of bows (which replace the concerto, veloce etc models)?
