Augagneur-Bergeron

I've heard really great things about these bows. Daniel Marillier, Thierry Barbe and Renaud Garcia Fons really back these bows. I'm wondering if these would work at all for Orchestra playing? I like a bow around 135g, that's usually enough weight for me to project in orchestra yet remain really agile in solo playing. Does anyone recommend this maker?

FWIW, my new bow is 129-130 grams and I think it does just fine with orchestral repertoire.

I've played one of their bows. I liked it a lot, although it wasn't the bow I ultimately chose to buy. It had a nice tone, was very well balanced, and responded very quickly as I recall.

Awesome, I've e-mailed them like 3 times over the past 6 months, haven't heard a reply. I actually don't even know if their prices are in USD or Euros.

Hello!

I'm French too, and Bergeron is my bowmaker (Augagneur is retired now...)
I have 2 bows from their workshop, and I like them very much! Very light, a clear tone...It's nice to play with bows like this. The particularity is the lightness, but I think it's absolutely not a problem for orchestral playing.

They seem like great bow makers, I just wish they'd actually answer their e-mails.

That's a pretty steep price difference...2600-4700, large gap.

Augagneur bow

I have an Augagneur-Bergeron since 4 years now. Very good indeed, a beautiful vigneron-type bow with elliptoid form. They are hard to reach by e-mail. Better is to make a phonecall. They sent me 3 (!!!) bows in 1 package to try out after which I could send the other 2 back to them. Nice - purelly based on confidence and trust.

Prices for the better bows are indeed +2000 euros. The others are just students models.
