By mountings they mean fittings like the Ring on the Frog and the Screw. Many Bow Screws are Split with Ebony in the center and some Bows even have a Silver tip.
The fittings are rated from Nickle Silver (aka German Silver), Pure Silver (Sterling Silver) and Gold (maybe 14-18karat?). Gold fittings are rare on Bass bows but not as rare on Exhibition grade Violin thru Cello Bows. I have only seen a few Gold mounted Bass bows in my life.
