Bow technique videos?

Hello all. I am a college student who has played electric bass for ten years and upright for only the last one. However, i really want to get some bow skills under my belt, however rudimentary. Is there any kind of dvd/videos searchable on the web that one might be able to learn some basic technique in order not to sound like much of a putz? vaya con dios. see you around. Thanks for all your help, that is if you leave any.

Also, consider taking a private lesson just to get the initial instruction on bow hold, putting on rosin, bowing speed, position of the hair on the string, etc. I was in the exact same position when I started DB. Get these basics down and you'll be off to a good start.

At least, a few lessons with your universty instructor would be a good idea. Developing bad habits is never good, and the possibility for injury is always there. Plus it might get you into the classical side of things.

The videos Jason Heath did with Andy Anderson are very good. You can watch them on Youtube or doublebassblog.org

+1 on the Andy Anderson/Youtube lessons. I incorporated some of his stuff today while practicing and it really pulled some things together for me regarding using the right hand index finger to control the attack of the bow stroke. Good explanations.

+1 on Art of the bow dvd, it is by far one of the most helpful things you could purchase(besides lessons) for bowing.
