Bow tip

The tip of my backup bow is extremely light for me compared to my regular french bow. I was wondering if anybody had any links to any site that had the silver tip plates for French Bows, I have one on my other bow but got it used along time ago. Just looking for some links. Thanks.

I once saw a little piece of lead inserted under the hair knot and wedge in the head of the bow. Maybe that is a cheaper alternative?

It wouldn't be terribly hard to make one out of stainless.

Greetings!

Unfortunately, you won't find "ready made" silver tips for your bow. They have to be custom fit to you bow's head. They are made from silver plate and have to be pinned....it's quite labor intensive. You're probably looking at a couple of hundred bucks.

The lead in the tip mortise is probably a better bet if the mortise is deep enough...it should be.

Take it to a pro and see what they think.

Good luck and best regards!

Here's an idea for a cheap solution; you know the self-stick lead tape they use to balance car wheels? How about a piece of that, trimmed to fit. Ugly, but it might work well.
