Bow wood suppliers?

Just wondering if anyone who posts here makes bows. I just started my first one and am pretty happy with how it's coming along. I definitely plan on making more in my spare time, but can't seem to find a good source of snakewood, or even cheaper brazilwood. Since pernumbuco is getting rarer these days, I don't want to use up the supply that could potentially end up being a Lipkins or Fuchs bow. Are there other alternatives? Where can I find them?

The DIY channel has a program called "Making Music" that I have my DVR set to record. Last few weeks were making a violin at the Chicago School of Violinmaking. This week was a one episode show on bow making with Steven Beckley.

You can see it here: http://www.diynet.com/diy/hb_musical...744211,00.html

Now, they really over simplify and skip steps on this show...but it was good to see none the less.

I like the show in general though as I get to see how others go about things, especially outside of the violin family. If I can pickup one good tip or jig in each show...even if it is adapting something a mandolin maker does to doublebasses...then that's cool.

Oh, and to answer your original post, try here: http://www.lahbows.com/ She sells CHAKTE VIGA which she states is good wood to learn on.
