Broken Screw on German Bow.

Hello all. I need some help here with what I should be doing for this problem. The piece that covers the screw on my bow has broken and is falling off whenever i am playing the bass. There is a chip on the bow that you can see in the second picture.
Please let me know how I can fix this or if I should order a new piece.
The bow is a Carbow German Bow.
Thank you,
Chad

Broken button...

Hi Chad!

I can't tell from the picture is the actual button (the black part that keeps falling off) is cracked or if the screw just needs to be reset.

It's possible that you'll need a new button, but that's not a big deal. Take it to a reputable bow repair person and they'll get you started. I wouldn't advise just buying a new button/screw...sometimes the threads on the screw are longer than the mortise and can chew up the inside of the stick if they're not turned down on a lathe. There is a bit of fitting that often needs to be done.

Best regards!

Jim

Since it's a carbon bow, the button is probably carbon too.

In which case, just get some quality epoxy (west systems is best) and stick it back on. Take the screw out, clean it with acetone, do your best to clean out the socket, and make absolutely sure you get the right ratio of epoxy ingredients. Warm the epoxy a bit (carefully!), and wipe up any excess that comes out with acetone.
