Question Double Bass bow help

Hi all,

I've just started doule bass lessons. The bow have is for fishing only. My teacher suggest me his "Walter mettal bow" that he doesn't want. This bow cost's 750 euro and is the second bow that i'm holding.

It's good hearing - lighter but i don't know anything about bows and i need your opinion about this.
What do you thing should i take this bow or a new one with the some money.

Your relationship with your teacher should be mentor/student. That being the case, why are you questioning his/her guidance? Who better to suggest a bow than the person helping shape you musically?

If you don't feel good about your teacher, find a different teacher. This in not intended to be an arrogant, glib suggestion, rather, you should have implicit trust in this person. Potentially, this is a person that will effect your life as long as you live. If you feel he/she is not motivated by your best interest, find a different teacher.

Suggestions from anonymous poster should not be given any weight compared to what your mentor suggests. IMO

You should get this bow appraised by a luthier, so that you can be sure of the value of the bow. Not to cast doubt on the integrity of your teacher, but you need the independent analysis of someone who does not have an interest in the transaction. It's just good business.

Your teacher should have no objection to this. If he does, that's a warning sign, in my opinion.
