Frog question

How should I go about getting a larger frog for my bow? Mine is too short for my fingers(I have very large hands) so my index finger hangs off just about excessively. Also, with the method I use my middle finger is supposed to be curved on the bow, but to keep the tip of my middle finger on the bow I have to curve it to where it becomes restricted and uncomfortable. I'd rather not have to take it to my bowmaker, if it helps I play with a french grunberger carbow.

Really? Do you know how to re-hair a Bow and even more important, how to fit a Frog?

Bowmakers fix Bows! Plumbers fix pipes! and so on..

The best person to go to IS a Bowmaker or a Violin/Bass shop that works on Bows where a trained Bow repair person would be working. Stay OUT of Guitar stores unless you need your Guitar fixed or whatever they call fixing..

Bowmakers fix and make Bows.

I am Sick but I would rather not go to a Doctor! Ok, a landscaper maybe would be better?..lol

Its just that he is pretty expensive(but top quality) and I'm a college student(poor). I wouldn't think of taking it to a guitar store, so would I just have to get a frog custom made?

A Frog custom made would cost more than that Bow does. Maybe the Shop that makes/sells those Bows offers Frogs in different sizes or just order a commercial Frog from a catalog. That could run $200-$300 estimated if the Frog fits the Stick. If that can't be done, sell the Bow and get one you like better or ask your teacher what to do or how to adapt to it.

I'm no expert in this, but I'm pretty sure you'll need to get the bow re-haired if you're going to get the frog replaced. Might as well go to a bowmaker for everything.

I guess I'll have to. The downside is my bowmaker lives a couple hours away from me so it costs over $40 to ship it to him total(there and back) and I just got my bow rehaired. I came to this revelation of needing a new frog after I played on my teacher's bow with my just recently changed bow hold.

Ken, where would I get a catalog? Thanks for your help, I'm not really experienced when it comes to bows.
