Frog wood

Is snakewood a popular wood for making the frog? Or is it a cheaper alternative to ebony?
I've seen snakewood frogged bows that cost over 1.5k and bows much cheaper than that with ebony, so I am not sure which costs more and what is the communities general preference.

Thanks

The frog is basically a mechanical part... so far as I can tell it makes negligible difference to the sound (and I once had to get one replaced... it really did make no appreciable difference once the balance was sorted out), so it's really about look, feel and getting the bow to balance right. So you can't really say anything about the material choice without evaluating the bow as a whole.
