I have been an Oak convert now for a few years. I have all three grades and even the hard is useful in mid-summer in Atlanta. It's hot here. I go pretty quickly to the medium and soft as it gets cooler. I used both Pops and Carlsson before and I think the oak has the grab of Pops, but without the chainsaw tone. It is smoother in tone like Carlsson, with better grab and doesn't powder as much.

I use steel strings (Helicore Orch) and black bow hair. Right now my bow hair is approaching rehair time and sometimes I add a swipe of Pops. When the hair is worn out, Pops can keep it going for a few more weeks. The rest of the time I like the Oak best.

This is what I've found as well. I used Carlssons' (very similar to Nymans') for the longest time, and in comparison, the
Soft is harder than Pops, but not as hard as nymans, and the medium is slightly harder than Carlssons. Oak soft is good for orchesral type playing, and medium works well for solo and chamber playing, IMO.
