HENRY bow

Hello,

I have been playing a bow for about 2 years that I really know almost nothing about, and I was wondering if anyone knows more about it.

It's a french pernambuco bow, stamped HENRY. I bought it for $450 Canadian, and was told it was a used bow that new would probably have cost twice that. The dealer suspected it to be a German shop bow, but couldn't say for certain. It certainly plays better than any other bow I've played that costs under $1000.

I dropped it a while back, and the some of the pearl broke off of the tip, and I'm wondering if it's worth the expense of repairing.

Any info?

Thanks.

Read those two quote lines above. You answered your own question. It will not cost you $1,000 to repair. I know Gary Upton (www.uptonbass.com) does a rehair for $65 but the damaged tip will be more I am sure. Shoot him an email gary@uptonbass.com and see what he says. A picture of the damage will be helpful as well.
