Question im sure im not the first one to post this...

but i have tried to search the forums and didnt find anyone mentioning this chinese bow thing on ebay, just double basses
anyway, if it has been discussed already please post a link, so i could read, otherwise please tell me what you think of this :

http://cgi.ebay.com/A-Fine-Brazilwoo...QQcmdZViewItem

is this total crap?

im reffering to the D21 model

and how about this?

http://cgi.ebay.com/DOUBLE-BASS-BOW-...QQcmdZViewItem

actualy both of them seem very similar to me, exceot the weight and the inlay...

i am fairly new on double bass and i would like to start playing with a bow, i preffer to lean the frech method. but in lithuania, where i live now, most shops have just german style bows, so i cannot really try a french bow anywhere...

any comment would be appreciated!

You never know....

Well, it would be really nice if it was that easy... but I'm afraid you're going to need to actually play the thing in order to find out if it's any good. If you can't play it, get someone you really trust (like an awesome teacher) to play it for you. Maybe they can even play it on your bass!

Many shops will ship you a selection of bows to try out, but you have to pay for shipping.

If you're looking for a deal, the best deals out there are either random bows people are selling, or the better carbon fiber bows. At least with carbon fiber bows, you know you're getting a fairly consistently well-made product.

PM me if you want some info about a nice carbon fiber bow for a reasonable price.

Michele Fiore sells HIMA carbon fiber bows, which are all over the internet. She's a very good and well respected luthier. I don't know the bows myself, but if I were going to gamble on an Ebay product that might be the safest bet to make.

Well, they do give you two weeks to try it out. (I still think the cf bows would be a safer bet)
