Loosening the Hair

Hello All.

Is it true that you should loosen the hair of the bow after you are done playing/practicing to prevent any warping/breaking/cracking of the bow ? is that a fact or just a myth ?.

Thank You

No. It also prevents stretching the hair out.

having it too tight can take the camber out of your bow, too.

I ONLY tighten my Bow to play. Then I loosen it and keep it loosened till I use it again. I keep the hairs slightly tight without any real tension on the stick. The hair is not as important as the stick as hair is like strings. You change it when needed but the Stick IS the bow along with the frog.

I've seen school bows that are never loosened (perhaps fiberglass, I forget) that have virtually no camber left. At least I assume that's from being kept tight...
