Mixing rosin? (Nube warning) Sorry if this is a repost, I wasn't able to find too much. The current bass rosin I use is a black block, but applies white to the bow (don't ask.) It leaves a lot of residue on the strings. Since I play pizz a lot, I really don't want this to get all over my fingers. If I switch to a different rosin will it mess with the rosin currently on my bow hair? Thanks a lot. |
I'm a cellist, so I it might not be the same for bass. But you shouldn't be bowing in the same place you play pizz. It's bad to get the oil from your hands on the bow. Switching to a different rosin shouldn't affect the rosin already on your bow though. |

All rosins will leave some sort of residue on the strings, which you should get in the habit of wiping clean after each practice or gig. That said, you really should always be bowing below the end of the fingerboard and always be pizzing at or above of the end of the fingerboard - so you shouldn't really be having a problem. |

Seriously, it sure sounds like you're using old, dried out, hardened rosin. I'll bet if you tried fresh Pops you'd see a difference. |
