Muniz Bows

Hello. I am shopping for a bow. I found two nice bows. Both made by D. Muniz Brasil. I am wondering if anyone has info. about the maker etc. Also, I would like to know what the going price for a new Muniz would be. Thanks!

I tried a Muniz bow out when I was bow shopping recently. I probably don't know a whole lot that you don't, just that he's one of the newer Brazilian bowmakers, and that he puts out some decent sticks. Though the one I tried wasn't the bow I ended up with, I'd say it was one of the nicer ones I tried, with a mellow sound and a nice feel. It was around $700-900, I think. It's hard to remember, I might have a paper with the price on it around here somewhere.

Hope that helps.

Edit: This was French, btw.

In that price range, I've played a bunch of Raposo bows - most of them weren't much to speak of, but one or two of them were really nice, and none of them were bad.

This one is a dark red hue. Silver mounted. Nice bow. Feels great in my hand. Aaron gave me a great deal. They are having a bow sale right now! Could have been the same. I was deciding between the one I own now, and a light colored bow by the same maker. Darker tone. A bit longer....

I have a French Muniz. I probably don't have much helpful info to share as it's the only bow I've had extensive experience with. I got it after the Brazilwood bow that came with my bass snapped. Compared to the other bows I have tried on occasion, I feel like it's a pretty decent bow. It doesn't stand out as something special to me but that may just be me.
