new bow: thinking ary

hey,
I'm in the market for a new bow. I purchased a cheap fiber glass bow this summer just because I needed one. now I'm in college, taking private lessons, playing in the university orchestra, and playing in the local professional orchestra. I need a better bow. I've been looking at ary. I play german. If you use an ary, know any thing about their bows, or have any good suggestions of other bows or where to get them please let me know.

thanks

There is a guy in Coalgate, OK named Tom Owen who makes very good intermediate level pernambuco bows. As he gets his reputation his price goes up (I bought mine for $530, now it is around $725). They are much better than the price. Several players in the OKC Philharmonic and around here are using them. He will build to your specs, and will ship on trial. I mentioned him to a few other people who have bought them and been thrilled. Get the salt and pepper or black hair though; he uses the most expensive "silver" hair which is great for violin and viola but doesn't seem to grab well for bass. His number is 580-927-9939.

My main bow is an Ary 400 German. I really like it. It didn't cost me an arm and a leg, and it stands up well to the rigors of constant use. The tone and feel is good.

I've been plugging Ary bows in three freaking threads now. Ary needs to comp me, or something! Hey Ary, how about a new 500 German, and I'll keep talking?
