Quiver question

Can anyone tell me how to install a bow quiver so that it doesn't flop around like a wet noodle?

You should be able to attach it to the top AND bottom of your tailpiece. It'll flop a bit, but not like a wet noodle.

I know to attach it the top and bottom, but is there a way of doing so it doesn't flop around. I've seen other peoples basses that have quivers that don't seem to move that much, I'd like mine to be like that.

I just realized I put this thread in the strings area when I meant for it to be in bows and rosin, where it obviously belongs. Mods...

Hey Mike, this is how i did it. i attached the bottom differently. i have the bottom tucked behind the tailpiece and attached with a zip tie around the narrowest part of the tailpiece (thru 2 holes in the front of the quiver). you have to make sure the bow in the quiver clears the instrument top. the quiver will also end up being higher. mine doesn't move at all.

The style of quiver make a difference too. Some are wider and softer, and tend to flop more than those that are more cylindrical and stiffer. I find both irritating.

I found one similar in size and shape to the Reunion Blues type. However, rather than leather ties, it attaches with Velcro. This keeps it nice and tight.

I have a Reunion Blues quiver, and instead of tying the top line to the E string, I tied it to the A string and pulled the quiver slightly behind the tailpiece. The tailpiece then holds the quiver in place and also holds the bow in the quiver. Unfortunately for my quiver use, I went to a Marvin tailpiece, so I'm back among the floppers.
