I haven't been able to make it to NY, and it looks like my schedule won't allow it till August or so. I'm aware of a few around here, but I don't trust them based on experience or word of mouth and I can't afford to gamble on a rehair that I might not like and need to have redone somewhere else. TIA

I've lost her contact info, but her shop is called The Bow Studio if I remember correctly. She once did a rehair for me while I waited. I honestly can't recall how good her work was. Mike Shank also does rehairs, if you don't know about Mike, you should, he's a great guy who does great work. www.shankstrings.com
Best of luck,

| | | | rehair in philly area Hi, I came across this post looking for feedback about Elizabeth Shaak. I can recommend Ron Forrester without reservation. I am actually a violininst. I usually deal with Ron Forrester. He is really excellent but you have to pay for what you get. His current price for a violin rehair is $65 which is a bit pricey but I have never heard a complaint about his work. He does bass bows as well. I was hoping to find someone cheaper but I fear what I might loose for the price. I have been hearing alot of horror stories about ruined bows lately (forcing too much hair into a bow and popping off the sides of the head or frog) Ron does alot of work for the Philly orchestra. He is located in Titusville NJ and has a drop off point in Haddonfield, He also visits NYC and Pittsburg. His website is Rehaironline.com BTW he makes amazing bows. Also pricey, but they are living breathing entities. Hope this helps. Any feed back about Elizabeth Shaak? |
