Rehaired into a mess

So I decided to try white hair on my Tom Owen cause I thought it might smooth out the sound just a little. I get the bow back and didn't like it. Too scratchy is the best I can describe it. So I went back to salt and pepper. Problem is, it still isn't right. Way too scratchy and harsh sounding.
I thought maybe I worked in too much rosin so I've tried to take some out. (just wiping the strings down more often during practice)
It could probably be anything but anyone think there is a likely culprit?
Strings need changed? Another rehair maybe with a different shop?

Thanks,
Dave

What rosin are you using? Did you use the same rosin both times?

Did you give it fair chance to break in? any new hair is gonna be really bright and scratchy.

Rehair Mess

I'd think it would have improved by now, but I'll keep working on it. Maybe the bow was originally shipped after the hair had been broken in.

Thanks,
Dave

Thats odd, Ive found new hair to be overly smooth. Ive found it develops the grippy sound once the rosin has had a chance to work in.

I ask where the bowmaker gets their hair from. A reputable maker should be getting the finest quality hair, but its always possible you got an inferior batch of white hair.

Ive always been happy with white hair, and one of the harder solo rosins. And thats on spiros, so that should definitely show up scratchy arco tools.
