Question Seeking advice regarding a Finale CF Bow

What'sup TBers-

So let'see, I've searched around the Twin Cities (Where I reside) and can't seem to find anyone who caries a Finale CF bow. Based on what I've read (and heard thanks to Jason Heath's video), it sounds like I'd really like to go for this bow - I'm not really at the point in my budget/bowing where I feel comfortable dropping more than 400 on a bow, and it sounds like the Finale compares in terms of sound/price ratio with bows way past that anyways.

So here's my dilemma - Do I just go ahead and buy it? I'm not really a buy on sound-unseen sort of guy, but I know my options for the best-bow-for-the-buck (har har) are limited at this price range. My concerns are that it might be too light and I think I'm a little used to a heavier bow. Is the sound that you can get out of a Finale (eventually w/an Upton Hybrid and Gary's pizz/arco string set) worth learning how to use a lighter bow for, or should I find a heavier stick? I apologize if this is all rudimentary stuff, I'm one of those jazz-pizz-guys-who-just-found-the-beauty-of-arco.

Thanks for your help,
Andrew

I purchased a Finale german bow about a month ago, to go along with my first double bass purchase. Didn't realize how good it was until I brought it to my lesson. My teacher a/b'd it with his Carbow ($1,200?). He has fancier and more expensive bows, but the Carbow is his main go-to bow. The Finale sounded every bit as good. He loves it.

I'm pretty sure that if you don't like it you can send it back.

Cheers,

Jeff

You can definitely send it back if you don't like it. They should charge you only the shipping fee of $20. That was my experience. I "liked" the bow, especially at the price, but not more than the CF bow I already had or as a substitute for the wooden bow qualities I was looking for.

P.S. It didn't seem that light to me. Maybe 135-138 gms.

gracias

Thanks y'all, I think I'll probably just order it and see what's up. I'll post a review eventually, too.

Peace!

It is an ALG or Alain Le Gouic and no longer available, apparently. Not as good as a good wood bow, but light and grabby, and a good CF for under $1k, IMO. You can search this forum and you'll find opinions.

I would like to try the Codas, especially the Infinity, but have not.

I have the coda revelation but did prefer my carbow because of the frog.
I need to rehair my coda to make a better comparison.
