Smaller (1/2 size) carbon bows

I'm looking into a bass for my son to replace the rental he's using. That will mean buying all the other things that went with the rental. I'm having a hard time finding much in the 1/2 size, though. It looks like Bobelock makes a 1/2 size bag, but I'm having trouble finding a carbon bow in that size. Any ideas? By the way, I'm really hoping to be in the $200 or less range for a bow (which should still be considerably higher quality than his rental).

Sorry. It's German. By the way, I was thinking carbon would be the least expensive way to get a bow of a known quantity. I may be wrong, though.

well the big advantage of carbon fiber bows is that they are pretty much indestructible.

i don't know the quality, but it's pretty inexpensive. really, the best way to know what you want is to let your son try them out and decide. having a good responsive bow is very important to developing solid technique (i think more important than having a good bass). at the same time, i don't know where you would find a truly high quality half size bow, i don't even know if they make them honestly, as any player using one will eventually out-grow it. keep this in mind though in terms of cost - this bow listed above is selling for about what i typically pay for a rehair. that tells you the hair is probably not very good, and maybe a rehair would be worthwhile to begin with.

As I've been looking around, I've noticed a several inch range of lengths in the same "size" German bass bows. Is there something other than overall length that determines whether a bow is 1/2 size or 3/4 size, or am I making an incorrect assumption that bows are sized to basses?
