Question SW Strings low end pernambuco?

Anyone here have the bow that SW Strings sells for
$199. Its supposed to be pernambuco. Seemed like
it might be a reasonable step up from Bob's, and since
I was in the market for a French starter bow....

I'm interested in this bow as well. Would a player in the market for an inexpensive bow be better off going with an Upton or (all hail) Gollihur Brazilwood bow or the one from SW Strings? From what I understand, Pernambuco is considered to be superior to Brazilwood. In the end, I don't care what it's made out of, just that it sounds good and plays comfortably.

Edit: I've also seen $199 Pernambuco bows on Ebay that are described as being made by bow maker Yin Guohua from China. Anyone know about these? By the way, how do you pronounce "Pernambuco?" Thanks!

Cool My new bow....

It all finally comes down to physically getting a bow in
your hand, or someone else's hand you can listen to

Sure, you can risk the money, SW Strings seems to be
a reputable business, just like with Bob's bows.

For me, I decided to go to the luthier here in town, and
give a listen to the bows he had. Tried and listened to
a range of bows, and finally bought a Brazilian made
Water Violet Pernambuco bow with a Snakewood
frog.

Yes, it cost 800 but it is worth more than that, it sounds
fantastic, and it should last me a good long while, and
it still was a LOT less than a Lipkins, LOL

The 199 bow that SW has is probably Chinese, and
may well be a good choice for a starter bow, if you
decide to go for one let us know how it is.

Cheers,
