Today in my high school orchestra I found a German bow, after playing on a French bow for all four years of my bass career. I loved it but my conductor won't let me use it for some reason. How much is a decent German bow going to cost me if I have to buy one?

as far as ive seen, if you want one just to play ebay has them for 50 or40 bucks, if you want a pretty good one, upton offers a 100 dollar one that is an amazing value but might be backordered(im not sure)

Buy a used student bow. They can be found under $200, and that way you can see if you like the German style. It sounds like you didn't get to play with the German grip for very long, so you may want to give it some practice on something inexpensive to see if you like it. If you do, move from there. Unless you find a screaming deal, or some type of anomaly, a "decent" bow will probably cost you more than $100. Good luck.
