Warped Bow???

I just noticed that my bow has a pretty noticeable curve in it, a little more than halfway up the stick. I don't recall if it came that way when I bought it or not. It's a German bow, and I bought it new from a reliable-yet-undisclosed (I don't want to point any fingers ) company about four months ago.

I was basically wondering... why?? Did it come this way, or is it possible for a bow to bend over this short amount of time? I've been super careful with it; I bought a case and everything. Or maybe it's supposed to have a curve in it??

I'm thinking it's a defect, because I have been really careful with it.

I assume it's curving sideways. I would contact the seller and return it for a new one at their cost.

There is a large post here on Talkbass made not to long ago... it may still be on the first page of the bow forum... Which direction is it curved? It makes a difference because when you're playing it will fix it if it's "warped" a certain way.

Is the warp present when the hair is loose, or only when it's tight? If it's there the whole time, I'd agree with the "send it back at their expense" post. If it's there only when the hair is tight, it could be due to uneven distribution of tension in the hair, or the frog's eyelet isn't snug in its mortise (in the stick). Actually, I'd still send it back. If it's that new and has a warp, they should take it back. It happens sometimes...

I apologize; I briefly looked around to see if I could find anything, but I was in a hurry.
When I'm in playing position, the stick is curved downward, so the tip is pointing more toward the ground.

The warp is present both when the hairs are loose and when they are tight. Now that you mention it, I noticed that there is a lot of play between the frog and the stick when the hairs are loose. It's easily moved from side to side.

Thanks for your words; I suppose I'll have to send it back, which will be frustrating because I'll have to practice with my $45 carbon French bow until they send me another one. A moderator can close/delete this thread if you want.
