What, exactly, is "all weather" rosin?

I have Kolstein's Ultra "AW" rosin, which I assume stand for All Weather.

I'm considering some of the new Oak, and they have only hard, medium, and soft.

I am not impressed with the all-weather concept - to me, it's just always too hard. I live in metro NYC where it's cold in the winters, and I live in air-conditioning most of the time in the summer, although I admit that I do play some outdoor concerts with a local community band.

If I'm ordering the Oak, I'm pretty sure I do _not_ want hard, but do I want medium or soft?

Many thanks in advance.

Gaston recommends mixing them- A good base of soft, and then a few swipes of medium to even it out. But, in cold weather, I've done well with just the soft.

Oak is a little bit different. It's harder, but not powdery. Medium is great. It's what I use.
