Can i connect them without damage? i read on another thread that an 8ohm cab won't be as powerful but wont do any damage. Is this true?

Truth. You can ran one or two 8 ohm cabs to a 4 ohm head.

It is no problem. If it is a SS head - you can connect anything as long as it is not below its minimum rating - usually 2 or 4 Ohms. Of course the power will be reduced somewhat at 8 Ohms, but it is hardly noticeable.

For a tube amp - the output selector or tap or whatever has to be set to match the cab.

This should cover it for your amp:

4 ohm head + 8 ohm cab (1) = ok
4 ohm head + 8 ohm cab (2) = ok
4 ohm head + 4 ohm cab (1) = ok

4 ohm head + 4 ohm cab (2) = NOT ok
4 ohm head + 8 ohm cab AND 4 ohm cab = NOT ok

Side note: Never let anyone other than yourself hook up your amp and cabinets. Always check cab ratings first, connect your cabs, then power up to avoid future complications.
