Active Monitor advice

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

I am looking to get an active monitor wedge but I am really unsure what to look for.

I have moved over to the Amplitube product (using their stomp box). Typically i jack the output form the Stomp-IO to the PA and play like that live. Problem is that I am used to having amps behind me and can hardly hear what I am doing.

When at home practicing I tend to use headphones.

I was looking at getting a wedge active monitor that I can use to hear better when live and use as a practive amp/speaker when at home or in studio.

Does anyone here have a similar setup who can recommend a monitor?

Thanks

Before I switched to in-ear monitors (hint hint) I used a Mackie SRM450 laid on it's side right in front of me like a wedge, next to my vocal monitor, (with my POdXtLive).

Thanks for the response. I hadn't thought about in ear. I was thinking of getting something that I could use as a practive amp (saving having in ear) and also if just jamming with the guitarist and not the full band.

I am in the market for a now monitor amp and am looking at the Mackie TH15A formerly known as the Tapco Thump. Like you most of my sound is coming from my pedal board and I am looking for a way to amplify that and not a traditional bass amp.

Yamaha has new class D powered monitors coming out next month. Light (neo and hopefully around 35 lbs.) loud (1,200 watts) and Yamaha always has good stuff.

I am thinking about trying this as well with an Avalon U5 or something. Waiting to get one at the store to try.
