My setup: mackie cr1604 mixer. Both outputs go to a dbx duel 31 band eq. Dbx channel 1 goes to yamaha dsr118 sub and thats daisy chained to the other one(stacked). Volume on subs at 12 o'clock. Channel 2 on the eq goes to a crown xls 1500 power amp connected to 2 jbl jrx100 tops. I eq to the room filtering out some lows going to the tops. This setup allows me to have separate volume control over main/ sub output. Whole band in the mix, bass drums, guitar and 3 vocals. We play motown, 70s dance and some classic rock. Most venues are medium sized, about 100 ppl, and i also run sound and play bass. No loss of volume here. Grab another sub and i think you will be good to go.

So you are using one channel of the DBX to EQ for the room ( all your highs are going here) and one channel to EQ the subs? I am guessing MM is referring to the one you have hooked to the Crown.

Why not aux the subs, EQ them on the strips until you can pick up another EQ and a crossover, then use the two channels of the DBX for lead vocalist and monitors?

So insert an eq channel into the vocal channel and use the other for monitor eq. Where would i eq the the mains from, and what is wrong with using an eq between the tops and the Crown? I thought by doing that i would be creating a poor man's crossover for temp use. Sorry for the hijack, got a little carried away....Still new at the Pa configuring

according to the specs for your sub the frequency range is 40-130hz. Anything above 130 is already filtered out. I would use your tops full range and try aux feeding the subs for best results.
