Advice on live bass amplification when doubling

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm usually over on the DB side... was wondering, the band I'm playing with hasn't played a gig yet but probably will be next month. I'm wanting to double on upright and electric. My question involves which setup makes the most sense given what is currently available equipmentwise-- I have a GK MB115 amp, and when I play my upright through this I use an Fdeck preamp/ high-pass filter (no EQ) for better tone. But the amp's EQ with upright through the amp is very different than what's needed when I play electric through it. I'd like to run upright through a mic to the house, and run my pickup to the amp onstage as a monitor. But for electric, would I be best off just running a DI box to the house, instead of trying to switch settings on the amp trying to use it for both? If so, what DI's do you recommend? Can you use the standard DI box? I'm playing a Fender P-bass with passive pickups.

Radial Pro48 for a simple DI. Or try their PZ-DI or PZ-Pre.

Radial Pro48 active phantom powered DI

Radial PZ-DI - Peizo & Magnetic pickup selector / Direct Box - introduction

Radial Tonebone PZ-Pre Acoustic Instrument Preamp - introduction

But is their one ideal for passive basses similar in price to the Pro48?
