Ampeg pf210 replacement speakers?

Sign in to disble this ad
i posted this in the amp thread pertaining to the pfamps and cabs, but im wondering if anyone in this thread might have a little more know how on this subject. any help would be great.

What do you guys think about throwing 2 8ohm Eminence deltalight 2510's in the PF210 to make it 4 ohms for a totally standalone cab? This would make the cab 4ohms, and could handle the total power from the pf500. if this could work it would be one loud little 210. and you wouldnt have to bring 2 cabs to a gig. it would also reduce the weight significantly!

thoughts? opinions? suggestions?

If you look at the speaker specs needed to design the proper cabinet size using this calculator it will show how the specs and box size and porting will effect the cabs resonant freq.

Basically what I'm saying is if you just throw another type of speaker in your cab it may or may not sound good.

Very true.

the specs on the site say that it reqs 0.45-0.6 cu.ft

that doesn't seem like a very large volume to me? I'm guessing that's for one speaker though... so i guess double that. if its in there i guess its good to go.

so i need to have 1.2 cubic feet total in the cab right?

Don't count on a huge volume bump. They're actually 250w speakers, not 500w. With a 4.2mm xmax, it's doubtful you'll get much better performance than what's in there already. Also, check out that gigantic hump in the 2k range on the freq response graph. Not good IMHO.

Ahh gotcha. i was just tryin to think outside the box i guess. no pun intended of course. I have np just picking up another cab, which was the plan in the first place.
