ampeg svt-vr power ashdown 4x10?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I am super new at bass, bout 5 months in....but i play in an awesome band that just got picked up by a small label...and I want to get better equipment. Unfortunately I still don't know much about ohms and watts. But I've got an ampeg svt-vr its 4 ohms, 300 watt valve head. Will this amp be able topower and ashdown 414h that is also 4 ohms and 1050 watts? What are the downsides/upside of this combo?

It should sound great and massive. I tested US made Ashdown 410H with Spyder 550 - great cab!

Tone is subjective. If you like the sound then it's fine. Just remember with a tube head to always have a properly matched load on the output transformer to ensure safe operation. As far as wattage, don't worry about the numbers, listen to how it sounds. If it sounds like your speakers are farting out, you're pushing them too hard. Read the FAQs at the top of the amps forum, there is a ton of information on power handling/speaker loads/etc.
