Amps and a Mixer

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Fender Rumble 100 and I want to know if it would be safe to run my balanced XLR line out from the amp to an input on a Behringer Powered Mixer so we get a little bass sound out of the P/A ?
Thanks Scott

That is the way it is supposed to be done BUT we don't know if your PA speakers are up to the task.

Sounds like you need better equipment. I tried it with a cheap 100 watt Kustom PA coming from my SVT4pro kind of lucky I didn't blow the speakers. What I did was mic my 810 and slowly turn up the PA that seemed to be a better option ( no vocals or guitar ) . Its fun to experiment so long as you
don't damage any of your stuff....................good luck

Well right now I have an Acoustic B-20, an Acoustic AB-50, an Acoustic B-100, an Ampeg BA-112, a Fender Rumble 100.. So I think Im all set with stuff ..The problem is the bass amp is out in front of me and the drummer and it seems to be a little directional so I just wanted to cover a little more area ( not necessarily volume ) so either run it through the P/A or get an active monitor for us and that should do it..

why is the bass amp in front of you? I personally would sell the Acoustic amps and the ampeg, and buy a decent powered subwoofer. Then you would be golden, run your signal into the board, the board into the sub (which has a built in crossover) the sub back to your power amps, and then the power amps into your speakers. Then you wouldn't have to worry about. The rumble 100 is big enough to handle just regular band practices and small enough to move back and forth without killing yourself. Just my two cents, use the Rumble as a backline monitor.

I do a lot of small stuff as well so I like the variety of amps depending on where I play/practice so as not to kill myself carrying these things up and down peoples stairs, also do some acoustic stuff ( AB-50).. I probably shouldn't have said the amp is in front of me its more like I stand on the side of it.. regardless of where its and what it is there just doesn't seem to be enough distribution and I dont think you correct that with strictly volume.. what we need is a floor monitor for myself and the drummer.. anybody that watches us can hear everybody and everything fine.. its us that cant hear what goin on..

Position the bass amp so it points at you, and maybe the drummer too. Your PA should be fine for sending your bass to the audience. You can blow up any speaker by abusing it, just be careful with your mix (like everyone should always do).
Yeah, you need a monitor of some kind for you and the drummer, -every band in the world can't be wrong! The powered variety are neat, but you should be able to power a total of 4 (8ohm) speakers with the Behringer powered mixer; 2 mains, two monitors. If you position it right, you and the drummer should be able to get by sharing a monitor, -ideally you'd each have your own, but we all have to get by with less than ideal a lot of the time.
