Hey guys, my band is starting to play more shows where we either have to rent a PA, or use our own. The PA we have is good (a nice Mackie mixer/power-amp with digital effects, two 1x12/horn driver monitors) for our rehearsal space or the small outdoor gig we just played, but some of the college gigs we have played/will play are going to require something more...substantial. To that end, we are interesting in buying some nice mains, probably 1x15+horns. I know JBL and Peavey make great cheap PA gear, but I was wondering if there is a small company that makes ever cheaper, equally good gear; kind of of like Avatar! Any suggestions?

PS Sorry if this has been covered in another thread. I did search; I'd hate to be "that guy"!

For cheap decent PA look at yamaha clubs, not the BR series! Peavey SP5s or SP2s would also be a good choice. If you go JBL get the MRX series {these would sound best of the choices I have listed}. Don't waste your money or JBL JRX speakers.

Adding some subs would do you as much or more good.

+1 Yamaha. My band has it's own PA, used for rehearsals, or parties, and all the speakers are yamaha's. Sounds pretty decent, vocals only most of the time.
