Aviom boxes for live performances & headsets

I play bass at my local church. We use Aviom boxes .. I want to get a personal set of headphones and am unsure of what to get as a bass player. The last time I used headphones on a bass.. was... back in the 70s... and they weren't that good so needless to say they were toast after about 2 months.. I am wondering .. should I go with the ear bud type, or should I go for a closed back more traditional type... I want something that will be able to handle the other instruments as well coming through the mix... but with a kid in college, a mortgage... a day gig.. a wife etc... I am kind of limited on what I have to spend... Anyone here have any experience with this..? We use the Avioms live... not for recording.. but it helps our soundman to better control the overall sound and gives us the ability to tailor what we hear..

Thanks in advance for any responses...

For those situations where I have to use them, I got a set of Shure SE530s. They have two bass drivers with a high end driver, so I get plenty of low end.

M-Audio has an equivalent version, either the I-30 or the I-40 would fit the bill. Any version of an in-ear bud with extended low end or dual bass drivers would be my recommendation.
