Bad noise from amp stops when move

Sign in to disble this ad
I know this is a stupid question and I should know the answer. I am getting a terrible buzz from my amps. It stops if I move a certain direction. I have a bass with an active pickup and it even does it with that one and normally it is dead silent. The other two are a Hofner and Ricky. I cannot even use those two being it was so bad at the last gig. Makes no difference if I am touching the bass. I tried the ground switches on the amps, I tried a ground lift, changing the location I was plugged into.
Thanks for any suggestions.

At home, all of our amps do the same thing. Using humbucking configurations helps a bit but really the only way to stop it is by facing in a specific direction. I think its either bad wiring in the house, something outside the house that's causing electromagnetic interference, or a combination of the two. It usually doesn't happen anywhere else, but there was one venue we played at where it was pretty bad, it may have been cause by nearby neon signs...
