bassist/singer newbie to IEMs

Sign in to disble this ad
Just started researching in ear monitors and am overwhelmed with all the info...

I'm a bassist who sings, and I think what I'm looking for is just something to feed vocals into my left ear for vocal pitch. I've heard of IEMs with an ambiance control or a mic inside the earpiece. I was thinking of just getting vocals sent in, or even sending myself vocals somehow by splitting my mic signal at the source (i know i know, changes impedance, but hey it's an experiment), and blending it with some ambiance so it's like I'm not even wearing plugs.

Any recommendations on models that would take care of this for me? Low Budget, Med budget, High Budget?

Low budget:

Samson Audio - S-monitor

You can link your mic straight to the board and just get your vocals in your ear.

As for higher budgets, there are so many options! do you need wireless? do you want to get some custom fit earphones? do you want to control all the levels yourself or do you trust the soundguy? Personally, if you're just starting out, I would get the samson box, see how you like it, and then if you do, look into spending more money on wireless/good earphones etc.

Before discussing your post,

There's tons of audiologist proof indicating you're asking us to harm your ears.

------

I also own an S Monitor... go with the Rolls PM351 or PM350

Hey thanks, that actually looks like a great place to start, and if i decide I don't like it for live, I can use it for recording.
