Question Best way to hook up Noise Compressor???

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all, im not very experienced with this kinda stuff so i thought i'd through up a post and see if anyone could help. I just recently bought a Hush 2 noise compressor and I need to know the best way too hook it up. I also use a Sansamp DI pedal and a Ampeg B2R head. I have a effects loop so i dont know if i should run it through that or straight through the input of the head. Any suggestions would be much appreciated thanks!

I'd say that if you need a noise gate on bass, there is something wrong with the bass or the amp. What problem are you trying to solve?

Man, here I am agreeing with you again.

First thing to examine is why you have a noise problem. If the noise problem is truly unavoidable (like single-coil pickups into a high-gain overdrive) then you'd read the Hush manual. Specifically look to see if it says it runs at line level or instrument level. If line level, then it goes in the fx loop- but only if it's a "series" loop and not a "parallel" or "50/50" loop. The amp manual will tell you. If instrument level, then it goes between the bass and the amp. If it runs at line level and your amp's fx loop is parallel, then it's not worth the trouble of connecting it at all.
