Mostly monitors. Used them as mains for some acoustic gigs and once for a DJ thing coupled with a sub at my church. They worked out great both times.

Wow, those prices are pretty ridiculous. I've been looking for another single powered monitor and the 12 looks great. I've heard nothing but good things about Carvin's bang/buck but never owned any of their products.

I was skeptical, but decided to give 'em a try. Couldn't be happier with them.

Those Alto TS110A speakers have really got me curious. I'm looking for a little floor monitor for vocals only and for $211 shipped on Amazon they look great. Reviews so far look like they are a great value. My only concern is their durability/longevity since they are relatively new to market. I may just get one and let you all know how they are....

Just wondering does anyone have a suggestion(s) for a pair of powered speakers that won't break the bank. They will not be used with a sub so probably I will want at least 12" speakers. Any help is appreciated!

Thai company, pretty well known in the pro audio world for decent raw drivers. Totally a budget piece by my standards, but if not (many different spins on that), buy once, cry once.

There were a pair on craigslist from Alex late last year.

I ended up with Yamaha MSR100 for my budget monitor/small PA.

We use JBL Eon G2's for most apps. If you shop wisely you can buy them on the cheap and they sound good, are easy to repair, parts are readily available and they are rugged. When we need low frequency support we use two PRX subs. Last year we played a small BBQ fest outside. The sound guy had problems and couldn't deliver the FOH system. I offered to put something together on the quick. 4 Eons, 2 Subs and used Peavy PR-12's as monitors and we had many, many compliments on the sound. Wasn't sure how well two Eons on a side would work, but we had no issues, and it was quite loud. Used a DBX driverack for EQ.
