I agree the Eden WTDI is a great unit, and available at a sweet low price, made in China.

I switched fron the WTDI to a Radial JDI and never looked back. I also have a Markbass Compresore in my pedal board. The compressor in my Eden never seems to do anything, and I have used compressors since the '70s.

If you like the sound of your bass, then leave the EQ adjustments to the FOH guy. I play active basses that sound great in my IEMs without the need for much EQ. I use the EQ on my bass sparingly, as any changes I make to improve my tone in my IEMs also affects the signal going to the board, which I cannot hear.

Also when I was trying to use the Eden, our soundpeople at the time could not get the gain set correctly, and I often had distortion in my channel. With my bass just going into a nice compressor and then straight to a quality DI, my signal is much more easy for a inexpreienced sound person to deal with.

Simple = better

Just chiming in to say that the JDI is great with both active and passive basses.

I think the active bass/passive DI (and vice-versa) rule is a lot of hooey - and the folks at Radial seem to agree.

I love my Aguilar Tone Hammer Stomp Box. Use it at church every time I play...nice clean DI when AGS isn't engaged, and can get a more vintage or hairy tone with AGS on if you want that. Also can be powered by phantom power if needed, and has EQ there if you want to play with your tone.

After another weekend (4 sessions) at a youth retreat, I'm going JDI. It works great with my Geddy, and I'm guessing it'll work great with my soon-to-be ordered Roscoe 5.

Also LOVED the IEM thing. We all used them this weekend and played very well. The only stage sound was the acoustic guitar and the rat-a-tat-tat of the electronic drums. Looked very pro and sounded very pro.

It wouldn't fit on my board, but the REDDI is an amazing sounding DI.

Do these DI boxes have any advantages over taking the DI out off my GK MB500?

Some do, some don't. Not an easy question to answer and very dependent on individual tastes.

I've had requests on gk to NOT send di from gk.... They noted hiss or ground issues
