Direct Box patched in the FX loop?

Can this be done? The theory would be that you get the actual sound from the preamp, as opposed to hitting the DI in front of the amp.

Either the preamp send or FX send would work. You do not have to route the signal back to the FX return unless you're running a second device (e.g. compressor, EQ, Sonic Maximizer, etc.) in the loop.

What preamp are we talking about?

The preamp section of a Peavey Combo 300. I have 2 options with this amp. It has a pre-EQ patchpoint in which you DO have to route it back in, and a post-EQ in which you do NOT have to route it back in. The latter is my choice. I have never worked with the soundman before, and I would rather send him a colored signal and let him control levels only. Your thoughts? No extra processing BTW. Compression at the console.

The "preamp out / send" is your first choice, of course. Use a decent DI and you should be okay.

Worked out great, and the soundman actually prefered a post signal. I was just worried about overlaoding the box, which was a Sansamp DI. Everything went swell. No problems at all. thanks for replying!
