Essential equipment for gigging.

Sign in to disble this ad
Yeah there's probably already a list like this on the site, but I'm new to the site and just getting back into gigging after several years off. And I don't mean your guitar and amp, etc... I mean all that little **** that everybody needs at some point in some gig somewhere.

So let's go. Add your own:

duct tape
extra cables (long and short)
flashlight (and batteries)
9v batteries
extra strings
pen and paper
business cards for the band
cel phone
more duct tape
bottled water (so you don't have to pay $3 for it at the bar)

Other musicians aren't really needed, but okay, point taken.

+ a cable, & electrical outlet of some sort. Hopefully the host provides the electric (sometimes that's all they supply)

...all the rest is fluff...

NO duct tape. Get yourself some gaff tape. Chicks dig it. It's like duck but has a cloth back and better adhesive - no residue. And it's black.

Also, several Sharpies. People always want our singer to sign stuff (and occasionally the rest of us), and she'll bring somewhere between none and one.

I used to pack extra tubes, but now I just bring my Barber Linden EQ and a DI.

If I were single, I'd bring some condoms. Fortunately, that ship sailed long ago.

That clip-on cup/bottle holder that attaches to the mic stand. Probably as important as bringing my bass, haha.

That was my first reaction. Gaffers tape rather than duct tape. And it comes in many colors. It's more expensive, but worth it.

I tend to prepare for the worst i.e. the guitarists need something. That includes

Allen keys/Hex screws
Tiny metronome/tuner
String Lube
Pliers
