EV SB122 sub questions

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a pair of EV SB122 unpowered subs (400 watts cont, 800 prog, 1600 peak, according to EV sight). I want to use my Crest CA6 to power them. What is the best way to set this up? I could run each sub off of a separate channel and get 400 watts a side at 8ohms, or bridge the amp and chain them together at 1500 watts at 4 ohms. Based on the data, can the subs handle that load? I believe so. I am talking about for a live sound situation, 3 45 minute sets a night, 7 piece band.

I find EV speakers like to be powered close to there continuous wattage rating, they easily get destroyed with two much power.
The CA6 would work in bridge mode on those subs but you will have to make sure you have a 50hz filter and clip limiter engaged......and then still use caution.
