We're tossing around the idea of in-ears, but they seem maybe a little too steep for our application (weekend warrior cover band).
I ran across the Galaxy AS-900 on MF for $185. My gut reaction looking at that relative to other prices would have been to dismiss it out of hand, but it seems to have great feedback from the small number of people who submitted it.
The feedback was with the caveat that the included earbuds needed to be replaced.
Anyone other experiences with this model?

I notice that the specs list a freq range. Would they randomly assign different frequencies to different units at assembly?

If someone else's wireless unit (IEM or guitar) is on the same freq, they will likely interfere with each other, and hopefully the other unit isn't also fixed, but has some other channels to choose from.
Also if you end up in an area where there's a local TV station using that freq, you can have problems. A lot of these wireless units are running on UHF TV channels, so you're counting on that channel/band of freqs not to be used in your area.
If someone joins the band later with the same unit, same channel, they won't work together. You'd have to share an aux mix, and only run one of the transmitters.

If you look at this: Galaxy AS9004 Band Pack Wireless In Ear Monitor System at AmericanMusical.com
It's a single transmitter with multiple receivers - still 1 monitor mix sent to all the receivers.
It's available in 2 frequencies (both are out of the 700 mhz range) so are 'legal' for U.S. use but as others have mentioned you *may* encounter interference with other wireless equipment (mics, instruments) if it operates on the same frequency. On the other hand, I've had a really cheap NADY fixed frequency vhf wireless instrument system for about 10 years and NEVER had a interference problem.

We do not have a sophisticated setup at all. As of now, this would be the only wireless device on stage. I'd have to hear is, but I think we'd be focused on vocals for the monitor send.

Do you recall if they we using the stock earbuds?
