I will continue to pimp the Line 6 G50. I'll never go back. I even use it for our rehearsals in a cramped basement just cuz I never know when I'm gonna want to move around. Plus, I just love toys. Batteries are never an issue for me as I use high-quality rechargeables and always have two spare sets plus a spare set of alkalines in my bag.

+1 for the wireless! The only place where I don't use it is at home.... all you need are high quality rechargeables and a spare set of alkalines, then you're ok!

What I sincerely don't get are all those ultra positive comments on the Line 6 Relay line..... am I really the only one who noticed a huge loss in the lows compared to the cable???
I've had the chance to try lots of wireless systems, and while most of them would sound great on guitar, the only one I found "bass friendly" is the Sennheiser EW572 G3; sounds a bit different from the cable, but you don't loose the low end.
Line6 claims an extraordinary freq. response, but does not state at how many db..... -3? -6?

I use the G50 on every job regardless of the stage area. I just like not messing with the cord. I do use cords for practice. If you don't think you need it or even want it then don't buy it. IMO the one person that should have a wireless should be the singer. Good luck,

I also use a G50 great system. I've not noticed any loss of low end. Sounds very transparent to me.

I just started using the Sennheiser ew172G3 and not only do all of the lows come through, the high end is crisper than when I use a cable. Total clarity.

I use a Carvin wireless...always. I run sound from stage and need to hear what's going on out front. Plus the "cool factor" is fun when playing for a great crowd!

Line6 guy all the way, here. Whether you get the 30 or the 50 - it's all good. Wireless IS safer. Less cords - less chance of tripping over them Sound, if anything, is enhanced. I think you'll find players that have used the newer units out there (whatever quality brand) will trend toward wireless in live situations. That said, I do use Mogami in rehearsal for ease (no effects) of operation. I'm with a few others, however: IF the singer-tard is so adamant about you using wireless - let him buy it

I think you would have to buy two and run them on separate channels.

Don't bother with a wireless unless you have a need for one. I only use mine because I'm running sound from the stage.

I have one of the old Line6 models. It works great and doesn't change my sound, but I never trust the battery life. I had a battery I'd only used for 2 sets the previous night, die on the last song of the third set. It had been stored outside of the unit.

apparently. you might have a different issue going on, or a defective unit.

my G50 sounds the same as a cable for both guitar and bass. it's a godsend for me because i both move around a lot and usually have to mix the band, too.

I always use a wireless. I hate cables. I hate wedges. I use in ear monitors too. Get a Sennhieser system and never look back. Wireless is the only way to go no matter what size stage you are on. I am all for any time you can get ride of a cable. Get a pedal board, put your wireless on it and your tuner pedal. That way all you have is one 1/4 in cable running on the floor and maybe the power chord, plus then everything is always ready to go and set up for you. I have an SKB pedal board and it has a lid and a power supply. If you dont want a wireless have your singer buy it for you.

However, when I was setting up at the aforementioned gig (and testing it for sound check), there seemed to be some transmission issues. (in and out-ish) However However, there were many people on the stage with a lot of stuff, and it could have been interference, hence the "chicken out".
Is your Shure system digital or analog? Which model? Your transmission issues worry me. I'm considering one of the Shure digitals, either the PGXD or, if I'm feeling flush with money, the ULXD. Thanks!

Which Shure model do you have? I'm considering one of their digitals. Thanks!

The OP certainly doesn't need a wireless just because your singer thinks you do, but I love mine. I usually play on small stages as well, but I love not having a cable at my feet all night.

When I was in the club circuit, I used one for this purpose, and to get out and dance with the crowd. There were a few times when it was convenient for eliminating chords on the floor. But, I don't think think cleaning up the floor is a good reason by itself to get a wireless. Get a longer chord instead and use the tape mentioned above.

About the dancing with the crowd:
Don't do it unless the crowd's open to it, and watch for jealous boyfriends. I've gotten some mean looks from guys. Luckily, I'm 6'4" and pretty bulky. But, I had some guys leave after I danced with their girls. Other times, though, it really pumped up the crowd during dance songs. Get the girls dancing and flirting, and the vibe get much better
