Have any of you had any trouble with running out of channels or interference with the G30 or G50? I actually kind of need to go wireless, because I am finding myself on big stages where I am the only one without, and it's tying me down a bit. Line6 is the only thing I think I could afford right now, and the only problem I've heard from FOH guys is that there aren't many channels for a stage crowded with wireless signals.

Never with the G30 and it goes very far :-)
6 channels is enough

I've been wireless for the last few years. Love not getting tangled up when crossing the stage.

Another benefit that I'm surprised no one has mentioned is the fact that you eliminate the risk of getting shocked by the crappy electical systems some of the bars have.

I just bought a G30 and once I got going, it has been great! The first actual performance will be next Sunday at church. As far as interference, the G30 itself has been fine, but my iPad ALWAYS loses network connectivity when I turn the transmitter on. I am on channel 2 so I will try others to see what happens.

I have a basic Shure, 9 channel, analog system. Sounds as good as a cable to my ear. I really like it. I'm in a 6 to 8 piece band and everybody is wireless. Makes for a clean stage and lets us wander about a bit and visit each other. I do bring a 2nd bass to shows in case something goes wrong that I have a cable to so I can simply swap out the wireless feed, plug in bass 2 and hopefully not miss many beats. Thankfully nothing has failed to date. I paid around 290 for the Shure at my local music store. The body pack has an on/off switch that allows me to be silent when I have. 1 drawback is the batteries dont last forever. The device has a red warning light when power is low. I always play a show with a fully charged battery. I'm a fan and will always use mine.

I'm a fan of my wireless, my band is quite energetic and even on tiny stages it is so liberating to not feel like you need to be careful of stepping on your cable. The only downside is the amount of batteries I get through but I buy them in bulk so it's not a huge problem.

I've noticed very little tone degradation.

The one thing I would add is that I urge all of you to not be "that guy" who jumps out into the crowd and then clumsily tries to make his way back onto the stage. It's unprofessional and intrusive. It would be like going to see a broadway show and having one of the actors break off a scene to wave to his mom.

I have 2 pairs of eneloop rechargeable batteries and they just doing fine. Recharge them for every gig.

This is exactly what I do, except I have the old X2 (readily found used for $150ish or less), 5 years of hard giggin' and still going strong.
IMHO, do it because YOU want to do it, not your singer. If you feel you have your end of things under control, then let him know that.

just got back from an (exceedingly rare for me) fly date, and i didn't bring much gear, including the wireless.

after not being tethered for a few years now, i hated, hated the cable. i had to unplug every 3 songs and unwind it, when i wasn't trying to untangle it from the singer's mic cable
