Gotta speaker connection question

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a pair of Peavey SP2's on the way.
Originally I intended to give each one a side of my QSC GX-5 amp.
Right now we are running monitors on one side, so I need to parallel the SP2's.

I have already purchased 2 Speakon cables, but there is only one speakon jack for each side of my amp.

Peavey lists all full range jacks as being parallel. (each has 1 speakon and 2 1/4" full range)
Does this mean I can pick up a 1/4" speaker cable and run it from cab to cab?

Sorry about the noob question, but speakon's are new to me.

Thanks!

That's what I thought.

I am definitely regretting not getting banana plug cables in the first place, cause I am not thrilled with the idea of running a speaker cable from one side to the other.

There's nothing wrong with daisy-chaining the speakers.

However I recommend that you have the 1/4" jacks replaced with Speakons if at all possible.

I assume that is because the speakon plugs lock. (if there is another reason I am unaware.)
That is the reason I bought speakon cables in the first place.
It is too bad that , on both the amp and cabs parallel connects are either 1/4" or banana (via stacking).

If I had bought the old school cables in the first place (banana -> 1/4") I wouldn't have had to buy another cable to change the amp -> speaker configuration.

My bass rig, on the other hand, is with the program. It has dual 1/4" and speakon @ both the head and cabs.
